Dear Author,

If we matched, you have excellent taste and I salute you! Thank you so much for creating something for me. I like a lot of different things, so I hope some of my prompts or likes whets your imagination.

First, the DNWs: I don’t have a lot of things that I flat out dislike, but the following are things I would rather not have in fic or art:

AUs set in space or A/B/O AUs or supernatural AUs.

Extreme kink, or PWP. That being said, I love, love a sex scene that is earned, so don’t be afraid to get a little naughty. But please no rape/non-con; dub-con is fine.

Fics featuring kid characters that are not in canon.

Character Bashing (characters taking the piss out of each other is fine, with my fandoms it’s probably a given!)

And...that’s it! Moving on to the fun stuff, please feel free to take this list as a general list of things I like if my fandom-specific wants don’t thrill you. I am always here for things I didn’t know I wanted.

Excepting the AUs above, I love AUs. I think different settings can really bring out a different side of a character we know and love. That being said, my favourite AUs include Academia AU, Road Trip AU, Classical Musicians AU, and Coffeeshop AUs, Unusual Jobs AU, and Lawyer AUs.

I love unresolved sexual tension (UST). I want to squirm with the characters and honestly, if you include this, I’m just as happy for it not to be resolved.

I love characters who READ. I also like getting strange recommendations off of fanfics I read. So please, if you have characters read, I will be so so happy.

I love food porn/drinks porn. The second one sounds odd, but I once read a story that spent so much time describing cocktails and I fell in love. So yes, I’m all about characters enjoying their food and cooking and drinking.

Angst. This is shamelessly copied from my Yuletide letter, but I love love angst. Give me all the angst. Reasons for angst can include: moral ambiguity, guilt, failed ambitions, thoughtful portrayals of grief, depression, PTSD, lost loves and all the rest. I also don't mind character death, but please please don't let it be a cheap plot point for angst.

Gen fic and friendship fic: I have recently found myself craving things about things other than romance at the focus, I think that without the romantic angle, characters can be left to explore interesting parts of themselves. I’m also really interested in friendships that started out being romantic but then resumed being platonic.

In Bruges (2008): Ken & Ray or Ken/Ray

This is, and will always remain, one of my favourite movies. Like, Martin McDonagh took a trope and turned it into a fanfic. I really enjoy the absurdity of this movie and I really like the way Ken and Ray take care of each other in spite of the fact they’re in a cutthroat business. Literally. I ship them but then again, I also really enjoy friendship fic, so please don’t feel obligated towards one or the other.

I want them to get drunk at an airport bar and tell each other their stories. Absconding off to an airport hotel and possible trauma re the morning after works too.

“Believe it or not, having a gun thrust in my face without it going off counts as friendly.” - That’s not a quote from the movie, that’s me...trying to inspire you to tell me about how they met. That quote is a bonus, if you manage to work it in.

There is one bed in the room. Aside from the snark we saw in the film, please do something with that.

Uh, maybe I missed the point of the movie, but please someone give me a fix-it. The one where Ray gets out of his scuffle and Ken somehow lives. Go wild.

The kid doesn’t die, but is severely wounded. Knowing Harry’s rule on children, how do they deal? Breaking my no kids rule for this, I just find this possibility fascinating.

A Single Man (2009): George Falconer/Jim

Continuing my indie movies trend, A Single Man is also lovely and I just want to see George/Jim happy. Feel free to go the AU route if that works more for the fic, but I do love the 1950s LA setting.

How do they meet? Headcanon is that they met on holiday, but where/how? Please give me an overdose of meet cute and generous descriptions of cocktails. Also yes please George low-key checking out Jim’s hot bod.

Domestic fluff. Or, in a happier AU divergence, George and Jim come out to Charley and she is happy for them.

Academia AU, please! Or maybe Jim is the brave new novelist that published a project like E. M. Forster’s Maurice and closeted literature professor George is smitten and intrigued. It’s worth noting that Jim is portrayed as an American in ASM, but attitudes towards homosexuality especially in an Oxbridge setting were quite loose compared to everywhere else...so I wouldn’t mind at all that Jim is the product of Oxbridge brattiness.)

Librarian AU

George does crash Jim’s funeral. Give me an eulogy that breaks my heart. (It’s worth mentioning that Hank the cousin on the phone is Jon Hamm, so maybe George and Hank the cousin come to an understanding about George and Jim’s relationship, even if Jim’s family isn’t able to.

Black Mirror (TV) AI Ash Starmer & his daughter; Blue Coulson/Rasmus; Blue Coulson/Karin Park

I am in awe of this show and am aware that it’s difficult to write for, but here’s a few things that popped into my head that I would love!

Ash Starmer & his daughter: Break my heart please. I want the daughter to grow up and try to teach Ash about her mother (and about how she’d like her father to be) so that her parents can be together again. I don’t think she is named in canon, so as long as you keep her as a daughter, go wild!

Blue/Rasmus: I just want debate and sexytimes. I can see them as FWBs who are super snarky and do creative things with Chinese takeaway. (Breaking my no PWP rule, etc. etc.)

Blue/Karin or Blue & Karin: Any missing scenes in “Hated in the Nation” would do me nicely. Barring that, a slightly AU version where Karin is working the bees case alone and Blue is either an intrepid hacker Karin contacts from time to time, or works at a bar that Karin frequents after work..

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (TV) Valencia Perez/Father Brah; Rebecca Bunch/Nathaniel Plimpton III; Heather Davis/Hector

As a person who has lived around the West Covina area, this show gets me! I also love it for it’s quirky characters and sassy songs. And the fact that they don’t seem to be afraid to let characters be happy, which I love.

Valencia Perez/Father Brah - They snuck around in high school while Valencia was also dating Josh WHAT? I want this in fic form. Alternatively, Veronica goes to confession. This doesn’t have to be dirty - in fact, I would prefer it not to be, but I kind of want cute confessions/a missed shot in a confession booth.

Rebecca Bunch/Nathaniel Plimpton III - I want a Harry Potter AU. Because Rebecca is totes a Hermione and Nathaniel is totes a Draco. Or they read fanfic together. Or maybe Nathaniel or Rebecca finds a fanfic and wants to use it as a guide to repairing their relationship. That seems about plausible for this show. Or Rebecca is a BNF and Nathaniel’s a comment troll who is secretly in love with her. Write me a love letter to fandom with these two at the centre and I will be very happy.

Heather Davis/Hector - Married life! Five times Hector was late and one time he wasn’t. Heather says in “I’m Not The Person I Used to Be” that she was very happy and there was no drama. I mean...really? I don’t want anything too angsty for them, but I do want Heather to wear the pants and maybe Hector to grow up a little bit.

Inception (2010) Eames/Arthur; Ariadne/Arthur; Robert Fischer/Arthur

I’m struck with 2010 nostalgia and need my fix. Nearly anything Inception related will make me happy, but please find a few thoughts below.

Still waiting for that fic where Eames is legitimately in line to become King of England and Arthur didn’t know he was telling the truth. Cue Arthur camping out on the lawn of Buckingham Palace and dodging security and Eames finding this Romantic. (Prompt specific DNW: please no gaynst, but I would welcome ‘omg Eames is the King of England’ variety of angst to no end.)

I just found out “uxuriousness” was a word. It means that one is too fond of his wife. Eames likes this word. Arthur doesn’t. Moreover, why is Arthur always the wife? Alternatively, they get married and someone from the government comes to check on whether their relationship is legitimate. Oops. I would also like to see this in an Ariadne/Arthur variant if you felt that way inclined. (Bonus points if Arthur is still the wife.)

Ariadne/Arthur - Her next job is nothing like she imagined it to be. Arthur tells her it doesn't get better. Just wanting some angst and Ariadne growing up.
