Yuletide Letter (2018)

Dear Writer,

This is my first time doing Yuletide, so I apologize for any awkwardness. However, I always devour Yuletide fic when it comes out, and I’d really really appreciate someone taking the time out to write for little ol’ me. If you’d like to get to know me better as a writer/reader, my fics are here.

I have a few dislikes, so I’d thought I’d list them here just to get them out of the way:
- A/B/O dynamics, BDSM dynamics (there is an exception for this, but I’ll explicate below), or male pregnancy.
- Supernatural AUs or AUs set in space
- Rape/Non-con, gratuitous smut. By gratuitous I mean that I don't want sex to become the focus of the fic to the detriment of the other plot points but I do love a good sex scene when it's earned.

The rest are likes, seriously. But if you happen to hit any of these buttons I’ll be a happy bunny:
+ Character Study - I love love figuring out what makes a character tick, and I’m always fascinated by what other people think about character motivation.
+ Kink Negotiation - I never ever see this in BDSM fic, which makes it all a bit same-y to me, but I would love the explorations of two characters whose kinks do not match up. How do they resolve it? Is there compromise? Is that just the end of the sexual relationship? What happens??? (This really only applies to the Merlin RPF prompt but if you can think of anywhere else to shoehorn it in I would be so happy. What I don’t want is just for one character to capitulate and decide they like it -- there’s so many fics out there like that already!
+ Coffeeshop AUs, Classical Musician AUs, Academia AUs, Time Traveling AUs, Road Trip AU, Lawyer AU, Unusual Jobs AU (where the characters have strange jobs), Inception!AU? Seriously, just go to town. I love recognizing characters in absurd situations.
Unresolved Sexual Tension - Even if you don’t necessarily resolve this, I am already happy.
+ Outsider POV/Relationship study - see Character Study above
+ Male Friendships/Female Friendships/Male-Female Friendships - I love friendship fic but I also love the friends-to-lovers trope. Also would not say no interesting family dynamics as well.
+ Angst. Give me all the angst. Reasons for angst can include: moral ambiguity, guilt, failed ambitions, thoughtful portrayals of grief, depression, PTSD, lost loves and all the rest. I also don't mind character death, but please please don't let it be a cheap plot point for angst.
+ Irony and Banter.
+ Navel gazing - Nothing is too pretentious I tell you, nothing! I like things that really make me think and using Author's notes to learn new things.

More Specific Prompts! (But please do also use the above like list for inspiration if nothing inspires you below. Always here for when someone gives me something I didn't know I wanted).

Fandom: Merlin RPF (Bradley James, Colin Morgan)
I have missed this show and my boys! I just love their chemistry and how well they seem to get on.

+ Kink negotiation AU please where one is rather vanilla and the other is kind of kinky or maybe there's just a mismatch in likes! How do they get on? See above in the likes, but would also add that I’d love it if Bradley or Colin worked as a professional dom or sub and isn’t necessarily like that in his actual preferences. Further to that, I am okay with them just deciding to be friends.

+ The boys are in Florida. Cue cultural confusions and Colin being gobsmacked by the size of American portions. (Also Bradley’s American accent makes a surprising return?) Bonus: no one knows they’re famous. Or, if not Florida, give me an American road trip! Maybe they visit strange places to find the American Arthurian legend (this is a thing!) or maybe it's just lighthearted and they eat all the fast food in order to win at Monopoly. I'm okay with them as friends, or as a couple in this one.

+ The football AU that describes my life: Colin dislikes football but likes Bradley, a footballer. What do. Bonus for Colin becoming a regular at his local by accident. If you do not like football, I'm happy to sub football for other sports! Cricket? Golf? Even pool or curling? Have at it. I just want Colin trying to understand a sport that Bradley's in while making eyes at him. Bring on the awkward!

Fandom: The History Boys (Dakin, Irwin, Posner, Scripps)
After a rewatch I am all over this. Lots of wants.

+ Oxbridge fic of all shapes and sizes. I’m happy to read anything about anyone during their time in Oxbridge. But if you’d like more detail, I would love Akhtar-centric fic, Scripps/Dakin of some description, Posner’s top five handjobs in inconspicuous spaces, Irwin doing his teaching diploma and hankering after people with a “real” degree. Also, Timms becomes a drug dealer. You do not have to use all these ideas, they are just incomplete thoughts that hopefully leads to other thoughts!
+ Okay, but on a more serious note: I would absolutely adore a future!fic where Dakin and Posner slowly get together. Or become friends since Posner has grown more of a backbone, I don’t know. It’s not quite canon but I want it. Poor Pos.
+ Dakin/Irwin - I don’t know, but I kind of want Dakin to become a lawyer consultant for the Beeb’s new show and Irwin still works there. Or Dakin has become an actor. Because why wouldn’t he?
+ I want someone to visit poor Mrs Hector after Hector’s death. It doesn’t matter who but my top choices are Scripps, Dakin, or surprise!Mrs. Lintott.

Fandom: Call Me By Your Name (2017) (Any)
THIS IS MY FANDOM. But I’m trying hard to branch out! I've asked for things slightly out of the way for this fandom, but really, I'm happy if you run with any of the below.

+ More Samuel and Annella please! I am the one person who really just wants to read about Elio’s parents and how they got to be so zen! Give me all the backstory, also, why is Elio an only child?? This is a pressing question. Does Annella know about Samuel's near summer fling? How does she react?
+ I’d love some Marzia outside POV here on the Oliver/Elio relationship.
+ Some form of interaction between Oliver and Elio's parents. Happy have it just Annella as she is the only one mentioned in the tagset, but honestly, the kid needs a hug. Please give him one! Piling on for my love of origin stories here.
+ Someone write me an Oliver/Elio Inception AU because I want to read it. Given how much memory and emotion figure in canon, I'm curious to see how that might interact with Nolan's film. Inception characters welcome to fill out the cast if that's what floats your boat. If you go this route, I'd adore a Jewish!Arthur, but honestly, that's a super mega bonus.

Fandom: Only Lovers Left Alive (2013) (Adam, Eve)
I know I said no supernatural AU, but rules are meant to be broken, right? Also Jim Jarmusch is awesome. I loved the worldbuilding for this, so simple but somehow also so inviting. I love the sense of ennui and loss throughout, so anything incorporating the atmosphere of the film would be lovely. There are a few crossover wants for this, but feel free to ignore those if those are not your cup of tea. Hopefully I've still left you enough to work with!

+ A bit of a crossover, but also not? Maybe? Adam is Thomas Sharpe from Crimson Peak (2015). Failing that, I would love a fic about Eve transforming Adam. The film implies that she's the older one by a bit, and I'm a sucker for a good origin story. Gothic flourishes abound!
+Eve being amused at Adam’s patience for Ian.
+ Eve hanging out with CHRISTOPHER MARLOWE, what. Still my favorite bit of the film. A cameo from Shakespeare a plus. Adam optional in this, but of course he's more than welcome.
+Pining!fic - Established pining!fic that takes place during the times when Adam and Eve are apart. The movie does establish that they spend a fair amount of time away from each other, but I'm a secret sap and would like to see them miss each other, or seeking out company that remind them of each other, crafting things to give to each other when they next meet etc. Bonus for all sorts of interesting historical characters popping up as you please. Mega bonuses: Adam becomes friends with Niccolo Paganini. Either of them runs into Bram Stoker and takes the piss out of Dracula -- OR, even assuming that Dracula has actually happened, someone sits down with Jonathan Harker and/or Mina Murray and have a cup of tea. In a similar vein, someone hangs out with Dorian Gray in an opium den, or I can see Eve being friends with poor Basil Hallward.
+Adam and Eve vs. modern technology please! This could be cracky (someone discovers Tinder - maybe it's cameo!Ian or Ava's fault) or more serious (cue them brooding about the disconnectedness of the world because of the Internet or television). Even Adam having to compose for something like a television ad/commercial and absolutely hating it would do me nicely. I could go on for days!

Fandom: Ozark (Charlotte Byrde, Helen Pierce) Happy for this to be OR rather than AND.
Why is there not more fic? This show is my kind of crazy as it puts seemingly normal people in very improbable situations. I also love the setting and am all about small towns. Any fic with an added element of place as character would make me very happy.

+ Charlotte and Wyatt do run away to Missou together. Failing that, Charlotte's emancipation is granted/goes ahead somehow - she reeks of teenaged girl to me, but I also think that she's acting this way because she knows it's something her parents understand. I'd love a fic inside her head and any mention of her friendship with Wyatt and sibling relationship with Jonah is a plus! Would not say no to a prompt where Charlotte tries to emancipate Jonah with mixed results.
+ Anything Helen Pierce related. I even kind of ship her with Wendy and/or Marty. I just want more of this HBIC and would love to learn and read more about her. A compare and contrast about her family life vs. the Byrdes' family life? Yes please. Or, give me the origin story of how she came to work for the mob.
